mike johansson I Managing Director
Glass has been my life for the last 16 years or more. After training in stained glass in my home city of Vancouver
I moved to London and started learning about the creative glass industry from the bottom up. After working for 2
large kiln-form glass companies we set up Float Glass Design in 2004 to concentrate on bespoke textured glass. I
love designing big projects like the Sikh Temple windows and art commissions such as Homeostasis. I thrive on
technical challenges and have now acquired a vast knowledge of creative glass processes and applications. |

Jane johansson I Design Director
Colour, light and texture have always inspired me - having studied at St. Martin's School of Art , I had a career first
in the fashion business with my own label - Ursula Bombshell, and then went on to design costume for contemporary dance
and modern ballet before setting up Float Glass with my husband Mike. I love experimenting with coloured glass and
gilded glass in particular and am currently designing our glass interiors range for our new Interiors Shop that is to
be launched soon... watch this space!! |

Jenny diplock I Assistant Production Manager
I have been in the glass business for the last 10 years and been at Float since the early days. Most of the time
I am working on production - making moulds, cutting stencils, loading the kilns, gilding glass - or out and about
doing installations and deliveries.I love working with glass as every job is unique offering up fresh artistic
challenges and the end product always makes me feel proud.

Rosie Swanson I Production Assistant
I have recently joined the company and never had any previous experience of working with glass. I love getting my hands
dirty and making the moulds with wet plaster - you get to do some really creative stuff! I have learned how to do lots of
stuff since I started here from water gilding to drilling holes and installing glass so each day is different and
presents a new challenge. |
